Description

Felin Fawr Cottage is situated in a tranquil valley, alongside a millstream, sheltered from prevailing SW winds. There is a  rough woodland walkway that leads directly onto the storm beach at Aberbach. The cottage was converted from a barn that was part of a smallholding of 7 acres together with a water-mill which is now also converted into the owner’s accommodation. The mill and cottage date from the early 1600’s. The name ‘Felin Fawr’ means ‘Great Mill’.

With its original features, pine furniture and slate floors, Felin Fawr is a very welcoming cottage suitable for a holiday at any time of year. The ground floor offers a fully fitted kitchen/diner with a Rayburn, utility room with microwave oven, fridge/freezer and washing/drying machine and a shower room with basin and toilet. There is a comfortable living room with two settees, wood-burning stove, TV (Freeview Sky) and DVD. French doors lead you to a patio alongside the stream, a lawn and small orchard. The ground floor double bedroom looks towards the orchard and the courtyard. An open plan staircase leads to the first floor where you will find a second double bedroom and a third bedroom with twin beds. Well–behaved pets are welcome. The garden is not fenced off from the grounds as a whole but there is a running leash for owners who wish to leave a dog outside but restrained.

Explore the 7 acres of lawns, woodland, millstream and water meadow. The owners live in the original Mill house adjacent to the cottage. There is direct access to the Pembrokeshire Coastal path from the beach with a local shuttle bus (seasonal) returning you to the valley, ideal for walkers. Abermawr beach is also just five minutes’ walk away at the end of the lane leading to the cottage. It is a popular surfing beach at mid to low tide with westerly swells.

There is an additional charge for oil and electricity, which is metered and charged according to use. We also supply logs for the wood burner at £3.00 a basket.
