This recently renovated old stone barn includes the latest ‘Green Technology’ reusing many reclaimed bricks and timber.  It is set in a rural location within 5 acres of grounds including a lake and teeming with wildlife. Children must be accompanied at all times in this area and no dogs allowed. There are two other cottages (both with hot tubs) and the owners home within these grounds but all have privacy in mind.  It is an ideal setting for families if they wish to book more than one cottage.

The cottage (all rooms on ground floor) consists of 2 bedrooms both en-suite with walk in showers. One bedroom has a double bed and the other a double and a single bed. There is an open plan lounge and a kitchen which is fully fitted including dishwasher, washing machine and fridge freezer. The whole property is furnished to a high standard.  There is underfloor heating throughout the cottage run from an air-source heat pump, electricity to run this is generated by solar PV cells, also solar hot water panels – all this means the cottage has achieved an A+ EPC certificate.  There is also a small wood burning stove in the lounge area. Off the lounge is a huge south facing full height patio doors leading onto your private terrace with a BBQ pit and small fenced garden, safe for dogs and young children. Plenty of parking space beside the cottage.

The railway station and ferry for Ireland are both in Goodwick/Fishguard which is only a short drive away. There are many places of interest, the small city of St Davids is approx 10 miles away and the coast path and small beaches of Aberbach & Abermawr are only 3 miles away.  The Stumble Head peninsula, which is popular with bird watchers.  Seals and porpoises are often spotted from here which again is only a few miles drive away.

Features

  • Underfloor heating throughout
  • Woodburner
  • Bedlinen supplied
  • Wi-fi
  • Ample parking

Notes

  • No smoking in cottage
  • 1 dog welcome f.o.c.  – 2 dogs £30 per week

THE LODGE

THE LODGE

5 5

THIS PROPERTY IS NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL EASTER

The Lodge is a delightful detached property set in tranquil countryside with wide sweeping views across open countryside yet within easy reach of the picturesque beaches at Abermawr and Aberbach. The Pembrokeshire coastal path and the stunning coastline is a short distance away as is the local 9 hole golf course at Priscilly. The Lodge is set in its own secluded garden laid out to lawn and shrubs and an ideal place to unwind for either families or couples all year round. There is a bridle path nearby through farmland and woodland which is worth exploring (the bluebellls and spring flowers are stunning) and away from the coast and within a short distance lies the wild Preseli Hills and the Gwaun Valley areas of unspoilt natural beauty. The cathedral city of St Davids is well worth a visit as is the local parish church St Cwrda’s at Jordanston. The immediate antecedents of David Lloyd George, the World War Premier, lived in the parish and a number of his close family are buried in the churchyard. In short The Lodge is conveniently placed to explore all that Pembrokeshire has to offer, yet secluded and peaceful. The Lodge was built in the 1800’s and has remained in the same family ever since. The Lodge offers spacious and comfortable accommodation with oil fired central heating which with the open fire in the sitting room ensures a cosy atmosphere throughout the year. Entering the house up one step through the front door and off the hallway there is a pretty and spacious twin bedroom with bay window, a dining room also with bay window, a shower room, kitchen/diner fully fitted with cupboards, hob/oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, electric kettle and table and chairs. Leading from the kitchen down two steps is a sun room which leads to a separate WC and utility room which houses the deep freezer, washing machine and hanging space for coats. Also off the hallway is a comfortable west facing sitting room with panoramic views over the garden and countryside. Comfortable sofa, armchairs and a “club fender” for extra eating space around the open fire, TV/DVD. Upstairs you will find a light and spacious bedroom with super king size bed, bedroom furniture TV/DVD. An adjacent small single bedroom and a family bathroom with bath, shower over, washbasin and WC.  High chair and stair gate supplied but no cot.

GUEST COMMENTS

May 2016  We had a lovely week at The Lodge in May despite the mixed weather, and the Bluebells in the adjacent wood were amazing. The property was well furnished and the super king size bed was just the best bed I have ever slept in, even better than our own, so comfortable and absolutely huge! The Lodge was ideally located for visiting the North Pembs coast where we did some lovely walks along the coastal path and we also visited the South coast too which was about a 45 minute drive away. All in all a very relaxing stay with plenty of good night’s sleep after long walks. So many holidays have been spoilt by uncomfortable beds but this was a dream!

July  2016 We enjoyed our stay in this well appointed and comfortable Lodge which was spotlessly clean and had everything we required. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds comfortable, making this a very good base for visiting north Pembrokeshire. We enjoyed St David’s and the art exhibition at the National Park Visitor Centre was well worth seeing. We spent a wonderful day on Skomer and were fortunate to see the puffins before they left.

Sept 2016 A delightful property with original character but, at the same time, the internal fixtures and fittings are all modern and clean. We enjoyed the Sun room and the peace and quiet. Good views of the Milky Way on clear nights were possible because there is absolutely no light pollution. The property is well located for the whole coast, not just the touristy St David’s (although it is well worth a visit!!). We would recommend the property to our friends and family and would definitely stay again.

Sept 2016 This cottage was lovely. It was easy to find and well placed for seeing Pembrokeshire. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the quiet of the night was very welcome. I don’t think we’ve slept so well in years! The kitchen was well stocked, and the living room was very comfortable. The garden was lovely to sit in and we were very lucky with the weather. The cows in the adjacent field were very friendly.

Dyffryn Moor Tregwynt

Dyffryn Moor Tregwynt

7 4-5

Dyffryn Moor is a very popular traditional Pembrokeshire semi detached, very old character cottage surrounded by National Trust farm and woodland and close to Aberbach beach.

A ten minute stroll to Abermawr beach will lead you on to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, whilst the more energetic can enjoy the sea and try their hand at surfing on a good day. Take advantage of the local shuttle bus and explore the locality, absorbing the spectacular coastal views at Pwll Deri, just one of the many view points in the area.

Set in a large, and tranquil garden, surrounded by mature shrubs and a perimeter stream, the location is much enjoyed by families. Beamed ceilings and thick stone walls protect a comfortable well equipped cottage. Please do not turn heating off, unless the summer is very hot as these old cottages do not have a damp course.  On the ground floor you will find a fitted kitchen/diner with cooker, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. A washing machine and small freezer are housed in a separate utility cupboard. There is a double bedroom, family bathroom with basin wc and electric shower over a bath. The bright spacious living room with its wood burning stove and comfortable lounge furniture has french doors leading to the enclosed garden.

The first floor rooms are tucked into the eves, two twin bedrooms a separate wc, seated play area with a full sized single bed in a suitably screened alcove. Cot and High Chair are provided.

Set in mature and private gardens, this well equipped detached four bedroom farmhouse, offers fabulous expansive views across the Preseli Hills, and is much enjoyed by families and walkers. Beamed ceilings, terracotta tiles, oak floorboards, a log burning stove in the Inglenook and an Aga are just some of the delightful features in this sympathetic renovation and make it comfortable for a holiday at any time of the year. An easy walk, past an 8th century church, will lead you to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, ideal for bird and porpoise watching and where you can often spot seals in the coves and see the flashing beam from Strumble Head lighthouse. You can also take advantage of the local shuttle bus which is ideal for walkers or to explore the locality without taking a car. There are also numerous local beaches for swimming, surfing, sea fishing as well as horse riding and golf courses in the near vicinity. Artists are attracted by the clear light and spectacular views, bringing an abundance of local galleries and the cathedral city at St David’s hosts many cultural events. Entering the property brings you into the warm and welcoming fully fitted kitchen with Aga, combination microwave oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a range of fitted cupboards. The kitchen opens into a tiled large lounge/diner comfortable furnished with circular dining table, sofas, CD/Ipod player, board games and open fire. The snuggery with its Inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove has a television and French doors open onto the garden. From the snuggery a stairway leads to an oak floored twin bedroom (beds can be transformed to double), with en-suite shower, hand basin and w.c. Back on the ground floor there is a family bathroom, washing machine and dryer. A second stairway leads to three oak floored further bedrooms:- one kingsize with en-suite shower, hand basin and w.c., a single bedroom and a twin room. All are comfortably furnished with period furniture in keeping with the property. The farmhouse is in an idela position for exploring the beautiful countryside, taking boat trips to Ramsey and Skomer islands, visiting local churches and coastal villages. The local village is Goodwick where there are shops, the railway station and beach. The ferry to Rosslare also leaves from the port at Goodwick. Fishguard, a few miles away, is larger and has art galleries, pubs, coffee shops, restaurants, supermarkets and an attractive Lower Harbour where Under Milkwood was filmed.

Mr & Mrs Marsh – Ty Draw!  Magical place, the Jones’ have made this a home from home. Very comfortable and very special.

Mr & Mrs Mier – Accommodation was so relaxing & comfortable, felt at home 5*.

Mr & Mrs Thomas – This cottage is not well represented on the website. We liked what we saw enough to book it, but when we arrived and actually saw it, it was far lovelier than we had envisaged. It is absolutely beautiful – we would like to pick it up and take it home! The decor is tasteful – so clever the way the kitchen and breakfast area has been redesigned, we were delighted to be in such a lovely place. the black & white kitchen was the best.

Mr & Mrs Neal – We had a relaxing week in what is a beautiful cottage in one of our favourite parts of the world. The cottage is tastefully decorated to a high standard.

Mr & Mrs Garner – Had a great week, cottage is a real home from home, loved it! Great shower, lots of towels, comfy bed, family kitchen/diner area meant our toddler could play whilst we cooked, it all worked brilliantly for us.

6 5

Set within the Pembrokeshire National Park and only 2.5 miles from the centre of St Davids which is a stunning little city with plenty of restaurants, shops and galleries and don’t forget to visit the Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace. A bridletrack past the cottage gives direct access to the coast path and the famous Whitesands Beach, popular with surfers, is within walking distance. Tracks and foot paths offer unlimited walking in beautiful countryside. A boat trip will take you to the magical islands of  Ramsey,  Skomer or Skokholm. St Justinians lifeboat station and the tiny harbour of Porthclais, and Caerfai Bay are all worth a visit.

This newly rebuilt property is highly eco- friendly with underfloor heating and hot water provided by ground source heat pump and solar water heating. The lighting is almost completely low energy and the house is double glazed and well insulated throughout. A wood burning stove provides additional space heating and gives a cheery glow especially appreciated during the winter months. The sunny conservatory offers a warm and sunny place to relax and enjoy the wonderful scenery. The property won the local design of the year award and an interior designer has furnished most of the property. If a holiday in a wonderful location and a touch of luxury to relax is what you require – look no further!

On the ground floor there is a split level bedroom with king size bed and built in wardrobes and a study area on the upper floor. The views are stunning from the huge window area. Off the hallway there is a family bathroom with bath, basin w.c. and shower room. A separate shower room and a utility room housing washer/dryer and freezer. The kitchen/diner is at the end of the hall with quarry stone floor and exposed beams. It is fully fitted with cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, table & chairs. The lounge has been comfortably furnished and has TV/HUMAX box, Wi-Fi. Music channels can be listened to via the HUMAX box and films can be downloaded from the internet via the HUMAX box. The conservatory leads off the lounge into the large garden.  On the first floor you will find a double bedroom and one twin bedroom, both with vaulted ceilings.

GUEST COMMENTS

August 2014  Fantastic house with all amenities and very friendly people to deal with. Great base for exploring the area. We throrougly enjoyed our holiday. Thanks.

October 2014  Had a wonderful weeks holiday at one of the most well appointed and distinctive holiday cottages that we have stayed in. Ysgubor Trehysbys is within easy reach of St Davids and the beautiful surrounding Pembrokeshire countryside. The renovated property has been well designed, is well maintained and the layout of the rooms are ideal for a relaxing holiday, whether you have children or are spending time with friends. The house makes full use of the stunning views towards St. Davids and Whitesands Bay with a conservatory overlooking a large garden, ideal for children, especially in the summer months. We would thoroughly recommend this property and hope to return in the near future

Treseissyllt Hafod

Treseissyllt Hafod

8 5

Situated in Britain’s only coastal National Park and within easy walking distance of Pembrokeshire’s Coastal Path and the beaches of Aberbach and Abermawr, Treseissyllt Hafod is an ideal holiday location. An attractive range of stables and old farm buildings have been carefully renovated to a very high standard and are exceptionally light, spacious and comfortable. Pembrokeshire is famous for its beautifully clean beaches, unspoilt coastline, castles, churches and cromlechs. The  many spectacular views and clean air attracts artists, walkers, photographers, botanists and families that just want to enjoy a peaceful seaside holiday in this special corner of Pembrokeshire. Strumble Head penisular is a superb vantage point for bird watching and you may be lucky enough to spot porpoises and seals. The two local beaches both have sand at low tide, with rock pools and lovely swimming, Abermawr is popular for surfing. Golf, horse riding, kayaking, coasteering and many other activities are all available locally. Although set in a quiet location, a short drive will take you to St Davids (the smallest city in the UK) with plenty of places to eat, good shopping, its many galleries and not forgetting the wonderful Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace.  The small town of Fishguard is approx. 15 minutes drive away with a weekly farmer’s market on Thursday selling local produce, fish and meat. There are also galleries and a great bookshop. The famous tapestry depicting the last invasion of Britain in 1797 is well worth a visit in the library. Tregwynt Woollen Mill and its small coffee shop are within walking distance and the pub at Mathry, shop and garage at Square and Compass are approx. 5 miles away. The Old Stable

The Old Stable

4 5

The Old Stable, is a recently converted stable that has charm and character. It shares the same location as The Loft and Preseli Hills Cottage.  All 3 properties have been awarded 5 stars from the Welsh Tourist Board. They are situated on a former farm down a remote lane on the Preseli Hills which is in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The Preseli Hills is an area of outstanding beauty with wooded valleys and streams, rivers and waterfalls giving way to moorland with wild ponies and other wildlife. For walkers and bird watchers this area is of particular interest. The owners who live in the adjacent farmhouse, are happy to give further information about walks in the area should you require it. For the more energetic walkers, a climb to the summit of Carningli (Angel Mountain) for fantastic views is well worth the effort. The avid reader may wish to read the interesting books by Brian John which combine historical fact with fiction from the area, the first of which is ‘On Angel Mountain’. Why not call in the Dyffryn Arms at Cwm Gwaun (known locally as Bessie’s) for a little refreshment or visit Penlan Uchaf Gardens – just a couple of interesting places to visit. Whilst in a central position for Haverfordwest and Cardigan towns it is also only approximately 6miles from the beautiful beach at Newport and the coastal footpath revealing hidden coves and spectacular views. It is a wonderful part of Pembrokeshire for exploring. The Accommodation consists of :- ALL ON GROUND FLOOR : Double bedroom with en-suite toilet & basin. One twin bedroom.
